Fine Tuning....

Just when I think I have finished a new
candle product I test it and find ways
to make it even better.

This is the case with these adorable
tiny tea cups that I found this week.

I love the look of just one wick
centered in the candle....
and it would be acceptable that way.
However,
in order to get the best burn
and fragrance throw
I am going to redo these
and add a second
and maybe third
wick.

Call me picky
or crazy if you like
but I want my candles to
be the best performing
candles anyone has ever
used.

And so.....
I go against my usual
impatient tendencies
to get them
just right.

  5. Ah, they are so cute. Do they really burn better with more wicks?

  6. The width and depth of the candle determines the wick number or size. Gel candles are tricky because I have one size wick that is gel safe. Therefore, if the candle is too wide for one wick to melt all of the wax I then need to add additional wicks. The heat of the flame releases the scent so more flames release more fragrance.

  9. There are so many types and sizes of wicks that it could make your head spin. It is the key to a great candle....using the proper wick for the size, wax, and fragrance oils. Then you have to know how much oil and color to use so you don't clog the wick....it really is a science.
I had no idea until I got into it years ago.
